Campbell 1 Farage 0
Conservative conference update.
Having initially refused Alastair Campbell's application for a conference pass, the Conservatives did a sharp u-turn yesterday.
Following the intervention of party chairman Grant Shapps, Campbell was given a pass that will enable him to address a meeting organised by Alcohol Concern, supporters of minimum pricing which Campbell also backs.
Meanwhile, not only has Nigel Farage been refused a pass, the Tories have also refused to list in their conference brochure meetings outside the conference zone where Farage is speaking.
They include a meeting on Monday hosted jointly by Forest and the Institute of Economic Affairs.
A Beer and a Fag with Farage takes place at 6.00pm at The Comedy Store, 3 & 4 Deansgate Locks, Whitworth Street West, a short walk from the conference centre.
No pass required. Everyone welcome.

Yet more evidence that the Tory Party is more similar to the Labour party than it's former members now in UKIP .
I don't know why they don't merge into one party - LibLabCon - and have iccle Cleggy as the mascot.
Campbell is a liar, a bully and a creep and the Tories prefer him? That says a lot about the NuConservatives doesn't it. Clearly not a party to be trusted.
Enjoy your do. Sadly I can't make it.
Tobacco consumers are now clearly being ignored by all three parties and this is an important issue, shame on them. Foreign diplomats are provided with smoking rooms at private functions when they visit this country so what's wrong with allowing the general public this same dignity and choice?
Amending the smoking ban in favour of adult choice would benefit businesses and improve the social lives of millions of people which only UKIP is prepared to defend.
Campbell stands for much of what saddens me about our society and modern politics. If the Tories and Alcohol Concern want to embrace him then that is their prerogative, but it speaks volumes about their values.
Alcohol Concern is an extremely worrying organization. Leaving aside its tendency to produce wildly misleading reports that might easily be interpreted as being deliberately dishonest, there is the thing with the panel of young people who write rather contrived complaints about alcohol advertising. I find that very creepy. I feel the same way about Campbell so perhaps he and Alcohol Concern are a match made in heaven.
Not sure Ivan D that heaven is likely to be the source of the match...
