Barking mad

As I mentioned in my previous post I was interviewed this morning for East Midlands Today (BBC1).

The questions were about smoking but the soundbite they used was a comment I made about vaping.

Nottingham County Council's decision to ban both smoking and vaping during working hours was, I declared, "barking mad".

You're right, banning smoking and vaping during workers' breaks is "barking mad". But so are outdoor smoking bans and employing relentless propaganda to denormalise smokers.

The people who sit on county councils are not usually experts in any particular area. I do question the collective intellect and integrity of any group imposing this kind of ruling on its own work force but the councillors are likely to have been led or misled by supposed experts.

So the person firmly in the frame for this particularly nasty piece of authoritarianism is Chris Kenny, a man who has wasted our investment in his medical degree by pursuing a lucrative 30 year career in public health, a non-discipline that requires no particular skill whatsoever.

Don't these people belong to a Union?

Oh, yeah, right....
