MP - fight to ban smoking in cars continues

Alex Cunningham’s Smoke-free Private Vehicles Bill lives to fight another day, just.

The Second Reading of the Bill, which would ban smoking in all private vehicles carrying children, was scheduled for today but at number six on the list of private member's bills time ran out.

The Bill has been given a new date (March 1) but with 48 bills on the list it's unlikely to progress any further.

Don't expect Cunningham to give up any time soon. Yesterday he told his local newspaper:

Smoking ban in cars still on the agenda, says Stockton North MP.

Who are the 3 authoritarians in the DoH? Sorry, who are the three he is referring to? The whole sorry excuse for a department is authoritarian and can be so with confidence as its funding is ring fenced. No doubt the OBEs are guaranteed too. I think it probable that the public would prefer the DoH budget to be spent on front line services rather than bureaucrats and public health industry leeches. Perhaps Cunningham could do something useful and request a poll to find out?
