Edging closer to prohibition

AMs yesterday discussed the Welsh Assembly Government's new tobacco control action plan.

Proposals include a ban on smoking in playgrounds and hospital grounds, outlawing smoking on sports and school grounds, and a possible ban on smoking in cars carrying children.

On Monday, meanwhile, Vancouver City Council voted unanimously to ban not just smoking in city parks but all tobacco products including chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes.

“I’m excited and nervous right now, because I’ve wanted something like this for practically all my life,” Councilor Jeanne Harris said before casting her vote to ban tobacco.

“(Smoking) makes me gag just thinking about it. It is just something I can’t see us saying its OK to do. It’s not about rights or discrimination. It’s about health.”

Why are e-cigarettes a problem? There is no second hand smoke. Why penalise this?

Because it has nothing to do with health!

Its got everything to do with the publics hatred of being near smokers and breathing in the fumes and the smell on their clothes and the simple truth that shs is not good for you and is unpleasant. This situation is shared worldwide.

It's certainly not just about health unfortunately the number crunching that smokerloonies attach to shs stats as some kind of proof that smoking laws are unjust is missing the big truth that the publics opinions are based on how they feel about being near smokers and how it affects them.

Im afraid I haven't got any reports or stats to prove the no brainer truth, it's a bit like children being scared of the dark ,you know it's the truth without reading an exhaustive report on it

Indeed we do know better after living with generations of smokers since before you were born judging by your immaturity DD - but sadly you do have that unproven, unknown, irrational and phobic fear of the dark and its all in your head.

Personally, I'd hate to stand anywhere near you. I wonder what you stink of? You're obviously obese judging by a comment on another thread where you say you posted wrong because your fingers were to fat for the keyboard. I wondered why you got all upset at lifestyle comparisons between smokers and fatties.

It isn't a fact, you know, that smoking smells unpleasant - it is a matter of opinion and yours is offensive. You are damn rude and socially unpleasant so it should be in everybody's public interest not to have see, hear or speak to you in public places because your Smokerphobia does harm those around you. Your rabid biased hatred is seriously bad for people's health and wider social cohesion.

you're a wind-up nutter who bases your view on prejudice and not science. A true smokerphobic. And please don't come over all "I support smoker's rights and I used to be a smoker" crap. You're a liar and your nonsense spouted here is exposing you.

Like other smokerphobics, you're also too damn scared to come out and be your honest self which is why everything you say must be taken with a huge pinch of salt and totally ignored. No campaigner who hides behind anonymity can ever be taken seriously by anyone.

The naff and distorted science that you cling too is so desperate it's funny, you want it both ways where smoking is ok and bad at the same time, shs not near babies and it's harmless too.

This clap trap that gets spouted includes what are they doing about the majority of cancers and bother with them first......good grief where have you been hiding pat.??? , you make such a habit of silly naive statements without anyone questioning you about it becomes normal to post without engaging your brain first.

Im not a campaigner and im as anonymous as Many others who as long as they share pro loony ideas are just fine

I don't really blame smokerloonies for clinging to stats and pulling apart reports as best they can because the simple truth of public opinion is so heavy and united worldwide . ..its just so much more cosy in the land of denial whilst having a fag

Anyway you aint gong to Belive me an ex smoker, just ponder for a few seconds pat whilst the truth makes an un-welcome visit in la la land denial blog about the massive rejection from smokers to the cause and why?

Have a think about it? (answer below)

Honesty and the truth, it carries more weight than having a fag for 99% of smokers
