An evening with the ambassador for haggis, cigars and Scotland

Thanks to everyone who took part in last night’s Forest Zoom meeting, aka The Smoking Room.
Special thanks to our guest, Boisdale MD Ranald Macdonald (bottom left, below), a great ambassador for haggis, cigars and Scotland!
He also talked about smoking bans, the impact of lockdown on the hospitality industry, and the need to revive the long lunch.
Feedback following the meeting included these comments:
“Thank you for a very entertaining evening.”
“What a delightful evening! I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
“I could listen to Ranald for hours, I suspect his historical knowledge is gargantuan. Fascinating.”
The next Smoking Room event will feature TV chef and restaurateur Antony Worrall Thompson. Details in due course.
Before that we are hosting another Talking Liberties webinar when a panel of speakers will discuss the Government’s new tobacco control plan, to be announced in July.
If you want to join us save the date - Wednesday March 10, which just happens to be No Smoking Day. Fancy that!
PS. I’ve just received an audio file of last night’s event. I’ll see if there are any clips we might post online.
Update: On March 5 Boisdale will present the first ever virtual Churchill Dinner.
The event will commemorate the 75th anniversary of Churchill’s iron curtain speech.
It also features a speech by Churchill’s great grandson Randolph Churchill.
A three-course dining kit for two, with two bottles of wine, costs £139. Details here.
