‘England - Britain - has not gone mad’

Yesterday’s post had a dig at those people in Ireland who like to believe Brexit is driven by nostalgia for the British Empire.

By coincidence this lazy stereotype - which depicts us as fundamentally racist - has been well and truly roasted in the Irish Times today.

Responding to Fintan O’Toole, one of Ireland’s leading columnists, John Lloyd, a contributing editor at the Financial Times, writes, 'Why Fintan O’Toole has got Brexit all wrong' (Irish Times).

Worth reading.

Anna Soubry, the backstabbing of smokers who rights she gave away in the TPD, without parliamentary scrutiny, was one factor in choosing to vote leave. Her anti democratic stance since and general distaste for people who don't agree with her is now plain for lots to see.

Another was when we were supposed to have an anti prohibition conference in the EU building but thanks to a non elected smokerphobic civil servant working on the hate and exclusion campaign against smokers in Europe, we were denied access to our alleged European democracy, without warning, on the say so of just one person who could never be held to account because her role is appointed.

In or out, I couldn't care less anymore because thanks to the likes of Soubry, Hunt, Hancock, and Wolaston, it is clear that I am a marginialised non person who is allowed no say in anything nor due the courtesy of rights, consideration or tolerance.

I can't see either the UK or Eire setting up a hard border in Ireland under any circumstances, regardless of what Margaritis Schinas says (He thinks a no deal Brexit will make a hard border inevitable). I voted leave because I am fed up with being told what to do by a distant push button polit bureau and I wish the Irish felt the same way.
