Nominations wanted for Voices of Freedom Awards 2017
Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:48
Last year we presented the inaugural Voices of Freedom Awards at The Freedom Dinner.
In no particular order awards went to Rod Liddle (The Spectator), Claire Fox (Institute of Ideas), Chris Snowdon )IEA), John Mallon (Forest Ireland) and mental health campaigner Barry Curtis.
You can read the citations here.
Nominations are now invited for the 2017 Awards that will be presented at this year's dinner on Tuesday June 27.
I have one nominee in mind – a well-known breakfast TV presenter – but we'd welcome your ideas too.

Dick Puddlecote for his work in the vapers', smokers', drinkers', gamblers', and fatties' cause to be left alone in peace without harassment from the state.... Oh, and Simon Clark for his work defending smokers - if the organiser can accept such an award 😉
I support one of those nominations!
Yes, DP would be a worthy recipient indeed. His tireless pursuit of the charlatans in Tobacco Control and 'Public Health', and his exposure of their distortion and fabrication of 'fact' has been an example to us all.
Jeremy Clarkson?
John Hurt for a posthumous one. He was one of the old Soho school - mate of Jeff Bernard and Keith Waterhouse in his younger days, and retained a zero tolerance attitude to busybodies to the last. See an interview around the time he took the lead in Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell on Radio 4 for example at http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/aug/11/modern-life-homogenised-not-much-fun-says-john-hurt
