David Hockney: "Why shouldn’t I smoke?"
Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 10:57
With delicious timing (see previous post) David Hockney has been talking about pleasure ... and smoking.
Interviewed by Geordie Greig, editor of the Mail on Sunday, ahead of the opening of a new retrospective exhibition at Tate Britain on Thursday, Hockney is as gently subversive as ever.
Full interview: Art icon David Hockney on why he’s still laughing and grafting (and smoking) as he approaches 80 (Mail on Sunday).

Bravo David Hockney! A man after my own heart. May he live long and healthily, and as soon as his health starts to deteriorate, die a swift and painless death.
Who wants to hang on forever in a state of half-life? Not me, and not DH either, I'd imagine.
May the Gods preserve us from the armies of dour, purse-lipped puritans that seem to abound nowadays, forever telling us to stop doing this and stop doing that. They just want everyone to live the long and miserable lives they expect for themselves.
Not for me.
They can take their asceticism and shove it where the sun don't shine. I don't want any part of it. Nor do I want to live an extra twenty years as a vegetable, thanks.
So once again, Bavo David Hockney! Long may you continue to be a thorn in the side of polite society.
