Forest response to Scottish Government consultation on ecigs and tobacco control
Further to yesterday's post …
Forest's response to the Scottish Government consultation on 'Electronic Cigarettes and Strengthening Tobacco Control' (which closed yesterday) is now available online.
You'll find the press release on the Forest website. Scroll down or click here for the full response.
Meanwhile I'm still shaking my head at the information that at least one group of vaping advocates (whose board consists of several ex-smokers) "cannot respond on smoking matters" because they can only answer questions "which relate to our areas of competence" (smoking not being one of them, obviously).
The New Nicotine Alliance has therefore chosen (cravenly, in my opinion) not to comment on proposals to ban smoking in private vehicles and NHS grounds.
Coming soon: Scottish Government bans vaping in private vehicles and NHS grounds ... You read it here first.

Only vapers see vaping as different to "smoking" and factually it is but that won't help them. It is the culture of smoking that's under attack and like or not, vaping was born from the culture of smoking and antis will treat it the same.
Why would they allow vaping in cars if they ban smoking? To enforce it not only will vaping have to be banned too but also all smoking in all cars even without kids to ensure it can be enforced.
Vapers via the NNA have shot themselves in the foot on this one. They are not our friends. We must fight our battle and leave them to theirs and distance ourselves as much away from them as they do us - when it suits, of course.
When it doesn't, then vapers will claim that we're in it together. Fat chance. Vapers have proved time again they can't be trusted and they will stab us in the back to improve their own chances of acceptance.
If they won't fight for smoking, then they've already lost. Serves 'em right but not those of us who have been fighting before the first ecig was invented. Perhaps those apologetic smokers who stuffed us back then are now the vapers who continue to do so.
