Coming up … ASA set to publish adjudication on Forest complaint
Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 15:34
Well, the waiting is nearly over.
Eighteen months after Forest submitted a complaint about a Department of Health advertisement that stated “Every 15 cigarettes you smoke will cause a mutation", the Advertising Standards Authority is set to publish its long-awaited adjudication.
We've known the result for ten days but the ASA wanted to keep it under wraps until tomorrow, July 30.
Officially the adjudication is embargoed until one minute past midnight.
So check in later and all will be revealed.

18 months for a ruling that is then embargoed for a further 10 days?! I call CONSPIRACY. Pass me my silver, cigarette packet lining, tin foil hat.
Seriously though, it does rather reek of Bullying Fusspottery .
Typical Institutional protection of lies to further the cause of State-funded extremists..
OK, Mystic Meg here. Let me just gaze into my crystal ball for a moment ….. ooh yes. I see an automatic presumption against Forest’s protest. I see “the authorities” siding totally with the anti-smoking whiners. I see all sorts of blather about “studies have shown” and “everyone knows” and “the science says.” I see a predestined, knee-jerk rebuttal of anything which challenges the anti-smoking mantra …
All right. I admit – I don’t actually have a crystal ball and I’m not actually Mystic Meg. But I’ll make the prediction anyway. Anyone want to take a punt on it??
