Steve Hughes - standing up for liberty

Breaking news.

I'm delighted to announce that - barring unforeseen commitments - Australian comedian Steve Hughes will headline Forest's Stand Up for Liberty event at The Comedy Store in Manchester on Monday September 30.

We tried and failed to book Steve when we launched the event in 2011 so I'm thrilled he's available. He was and is our number one choice.

Here he is on health and safety:

Steve is currently on tour with a show called 'While It's Still Legal'. For full details visit his website.

To attend Stand Up For Liberty - which is part of Forest's Liberty Lounge event - email events@forestonline.org. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Nice one, Simon! He's caustic and sharp: brilliant!

He's a funny guy, and right on the nail. In fact, he has the sort of attitude that I was accustomed to when I lived in Aus in the 70s - irreverent, anti-authoritarian and pretty relaxed about life in general.

So how come Australia has turned into such an awful place? How did the Aussies I knew and loved allow their country and the freedoms they enjoyed to be taken from them? I find myself constantly perplexed by this huge change in the national psyche. When I lived there, the likes of that knobhead Chapman would have been shown the door pretty smartish.

Such a shame to see a great country fall so low.
