Sunday Politics West – plain packaging

Click on the image above to watch the Sunday Politics West discussion on plain packaging.

Alternatively watch it via the Sunday Politics West website.

The item begins after 50 minutes with a short film. The studio discussion begins five minutes later.

To be fair, the discussion (if not the film) is more balanced than it felt at the time.

Simon without wishing to be sycophantic I thought this was one of your best interviews. Crisp and to the point getting the soundbites and facts across.

When the presenter said "Why should customers be treated like scum" are very strong words and Williams should be in no doubt where he has bought us.

Well done Simon, It appears James Heappey the Conservative PPC for Wells seems if though he's not bothered about winning this seat in the next general election, another "Blue Labour" member. The current Lib-Dem MP who's name is Tessa Munt didn't vote, back in 2010 for David Nuttall's bill to amend the smoking ban so we don't know where the Current MP stands on these issues. But for sure, you would of thought the Conservative's by now would have been moving away from the nanny state, especially after the kicking they got in the recent county council elections.

I second Dave A's remarks. I particularly liked the way in which you handled the interviewer's suggestion that you spoke for Tobacco Companies in that you made it perfectly clear that you spoke for consumers.
For a change, you got a fair crack of the whip.

Well done, Simon. Limited time is restrictive. It seems from the clip that Anna Soubry seems to believe that we have a ban in OPEN public spaces. Or is this just more sociology at play? As for the ex employee (George somebody or other), it would have been interesting to know exactly what he does now know that he didn't then. And why.
