Graphic health warnings arrive in Ireland

From Friday picture health warnings are mandatory on all tobacco products sold in Ireland.

The good news? The rest of the world will be spared the sight (and sound) of Irish politicians boasting that the country is "leading the world" on graphic imagery.

Forest's response, issued earlier today, has been reported by the Journal.ie. See Smokers’ group slams introduction of graphic health warnings.

The comments are well worth reading.

The sheer ignorance in the comments is incredible.

Sod them all - what does it matter what pictures appear on packets? If tobacco companies are not prepared to complain about the fact that these pictures do not represent real, tobacco related events, why should we concern ourselves?

Pictures are irrelevant. The important thing is that THE SIZE AND SHAPE of packets should depend upon what consumers want, which is what plain packaging is about as far as smokers are concerned.
