PPP campaign up for design award

Thankfully, all that public money didn't go to waste.

The Plain Packs Protect billboard campaign by communications agency Bray Leino has been nominated for an award.

That's almost as funny as this video.

Ironically, Bray Leino describes itself as an agency "specialising in brand building". Not tobacco brands, obviously.

Of course the real prize that Smokefree South West (Bray Leino's client) wants to win is plain packaging. Given the responses to the consultation, that may prove a little more difficult.

See an earlier post on this campaign: How public money is influencing the consultation on plain packaging

PS. The nomination is for the Cream Midlands Awards. No, I've never heard of them either.

Update: Bray Leino's campaign for Smokefree South West won the gold award for Outdoor Campaign. So happy for them/us.

Bray Leino has been nominated for an award…how nice. I wonder if people know that their site is unsafe. When I clicked on the link you provided Simon I got this message:

This website has been reported as unsafe.
www.brayleino.co.uk

We recommend that you do not continue to this website.
This website has been reported to Microsoft for containing threats to computer that might reveal personal or financial information.

Malicious software threat: This site contains links to viruses or other software programs that can reveal personal information stored or typed on your computer to malicious persons.

What does one make of this? Not sure I like the sound of that message.

Dennis, I checked the link on PC, iPad and laptop and there was no sign of the message you describe.

Strange Simon, very strange indeed. The top address bar is in red and right at the top of the page bar it says:

Reported unsafe website: Navigation blocked - Windows Internet Explorer

Don't know the answer to this one.

Junican what do you get.

I have just tried the link which you provided and I get no warning messages at all - straight through the site no problem.

Problem Solved

I’m running IE8, and it has a Smartscreen Filter which you can turn on or off (not recommended). I’ve turned it off and now can get straight through to the site. But remember this filter is there for a reason, and so should be turned on at all times. I have now turned it back on. This is the first time I've had such a warning message when visiting any sites.

SmartScreen Filter uses an SSL web connection to send website addresses to Microsoft, and any reported unsafe website will need to be confirmed by reputable sources as fraudulent or linking to malicious software. This has been confirmed in this instance. So of course it is recommended that you don’t give any sensitive and personal information to such sites.

If you’re running IE8, click on tools in your browser and scroll down you will see Smartscreen Filter which has a sub-menu:
Check this website
Turn off smartscreen filter
Report unsafe website

If the filter is turned off then turn it back on and visit the site again – you should see the warning.

It’s just as well I had my filter turned on, although I didn’t leave any personal information.

I wonder what Smokefree South West think about using an agency whose site has been reported and had confirmed the dubious practice of phishing.

Great way of spending taxpayers money on agencies like this.
