Bill to ban smoking in cars with children gets Commons Second Reading

A ban on smoking in cars could move a step closer today.

Or not.

Lord Ribeiro’s Smoke-free Private Vehicles Bill has its Second Reading in the House of Commons where it has been taken up by Alex Cunningham, Labour MP for Stockton North, who tried and failed to introduce similar legislation in 2011.

The Bill is number five on today's Order Paper. The good news is that a single voice of opposition will prevent the Bill from progressing.

I'll keep you posted.

Update: I have just done a short interview for BBC Tees on the subject. Cunningham is one of their local MPs.
