Message to ministers – amend the ban

Light blogging only for the rest of the week.

Here is the first of three videos from the Save Our Pubs and Clubs reception at the House of Commons on June 29.

I'll post the others shortly, or you see them now on the Save Our Pubs and Clubs YouTube channel. Click here.

Good vid, Simon.

Will other sites be posting it as well?

Has anyone seen the dreadful Daily Mail today? Now they are claiming that deformities prior to birth such as cleft palattes are caused by smoking. There is no chance of this fascist rag ever changing its tune until smoking is outlawed.

Sorry, I think that's unfair on the Daily Mail. Only yesterday the Mail published this article: Health Hitlers and a mutiny in the town trying to ban smoking. Fascist rag? Well, I'm a reader so that would make me a fascist too.

PS. This thread is for comments about the video. To answer your question, Joyce, anyone can post this video on their blog or website if they want to.

The campaign and video seems to be inspiring some of the publicans to ask for an amendment to the smoking ban.

"I vote for a repeal of the smoking ban so that I can spend more time playing on my PlayStation and less time picking fag ends out of the pansies."

There was never a need for smoking bans in the first place:-

Ah but, Ed, that well-known scientific centre of excellence know as ASH has disproved beyond doubt, scientifically, that such systems do not work for tobacco smoke. Any possible evidence to the contrary promotes Tobacco Companies, and is thus disqualified. I feel sure that any company which makes air cleaning equipment will have been advised of the above scientific facts and assured that the take up of their equipment by the Government very much depends upon their acceptance of these scientific facts.

There is this stench in the air. I cannot quite identify it. It seems to have some of the qualities of 'corruption'. Could that be true?

I've been getting the same stench of corruption since the smoking ban was introduced.
The same stench that has been eminating from Murdock all these years.
I long for the day for similar leaks to emerge, that will bring the Anti Smoking Mafia down.
And hope that this 'exposure' will start in the ASH organisation.
Anyone for phone tapping?

Ann: According to Angela Harbutt in her recent blog on Lib. Vision titled "We must do this more often" she has received an e-mail from someone 'inside' Ash who seemingly doesn't agree with a lot of their 'views'. This doesn't seem to be headlined much at the moment so I wait expectantly.

The problem is the DoH/ASH and APPG have a stranglehold on the House and they, as we know, ruthlessly discount anything that doesn't make tobacco the devil incarnate. It's a tactical problem, simple in principle but difficult in practice. It's also just SHS, no more, no less, again simple in principle. Sometimes I think we lose that fact.

As we also know, these people don't give a damn about the public's views, so the battle is in the House and that's why I'm happy to support the likes of Simon and Dave Atherton who are better placed to concentrate on this simple target and the simple issue of SHS than most of us seem to be. Slow and painful it may sometimes be but progress IS being made.

I know your right Frank, God bless Simon and Dave for keeping chipping away at the Anti Organisation's spin doctoring, its just that one gets so frustrated having to listen and read about the lies of SHS day after day when people are suffering much greater losses in their lives and standard of living through this recession, while these useless and tormenting quangos like Ash and their buddy's in govt reap all the benefits sucking our blood and feeding off our last bit of comfort and pleasure, before we turn into the robots they want us to be.
I just want to blow 'em out of the water!
