Covid update

Quick update on my Covid status.

Tested positive last Saturday, 48 hours after initial symptoms that had included sharp chest pains when I coughed.

The chest pains then disappeared but I was coughing more frequently. This was accompanied by tiredness and a runny nose, much like a heavy cold.

By Wednesday I felt less tired and was no longer retiring to my bed in the afternoon for a 2-3 hour sleep which was just as well because on Wednesday I had to do three TV/radio interviews followed by a further ten on Thursday.

I have now been coughing consistently and sometimes quite violently every day for a week. Talking doesn’t help and I can’t seem to shake it off.

(I am currently sucking on a succession of ‘Extra Triple Action’ Strepsils and drinking numerous mugs of tea to soothe my throat, with limited success.)

Two more interviews today then I will try not to speak at all for 24 hours!

Watch this space.

PS. I have now tested negative (Monday) although I suspect I’ve been negative for a few days.

Without the vaccine it may have been a lot worse, even though the current variant doesn’t seem too serious, so praise be to AstraZeneca and Pfizer!
