Join us this evening for the latest Forest webinar.
Our special guest is TV chef and restaurateur Antony Worrall Thompson, a long-time friend of Forest.
We’ll be talking about all sorts of things - not just smoking - including Antony’s 40-year career as a restaurateur.
His first restaurant, Ménage à Trois in Knightsbridge, was the location for Princess Diana’s infamous lunch with Camilla Parker Bowles in 1981.
Their rendezvous, shortly after Diana married Charles, was featured in the latest series of The Crown but it’s worth mentioning why they chose to meet there.
According to one report:
Ménage à Trois in Knightsbridge, where Camilla and Diana dined together, was the ultimate place for ‘ladies who lunch’ in the early 80s.
It was designed specifically as ‘a restaurant for women’ by its creator Antony Worrall Thompson, and the menu was made up entirely of starters and puddings – spawning the catchphrase ‘no intercourse’.
Other topics for discussion tonight include Jamie Oliver, vegan sausage rolls and I’m A Celebrity.
If there is time I might also ask him about this:
A sweet pie concocted for children by television chef Antony Worrall Thompson is one of the least healthy ever dreamed up, a food watchdog has said.
One slice contains more than 1,250 calories, the Food Commission says.
Estimated daily average requirements are 2,550 for men, and 1,940 for women.
The pudding mixes five Snickers bars with mascarpone, eggs, sugar, soft cheese and puff pastry.
Sounds delicious.
PS. Antony wasn’t sure if he would be able to get to grips with Zoom on his “old Apple Mac” so we arranged a test last night with Rob Lyons who chairs our meetings and operates the buttons.
All worked well at their end but while I could see them I couldn’t hear a word Rob or Antony were saying.
This does not bode well for tonight because I’m the one conducting the interview before we open the discussion to the floor.
Fingers crossed, all will be well. To join us, click here.
